Explore tea and infusions with us!
Besides water, tea is the most consumed beverage in the world, with over 165 million cups drunk in the UK every single day! The history of tea dates back almost 5,000 years when it was first discovered in China. However, it wasn’t until the 17th Century that tea finally found its way to our shores. Ever since tea has played a huge social and economic role in Britain.
All types of tea come from the same plant, Camellia Sinensis. The differences between tea types come from how the leaf is processed, the growing conditions and geography. What we call ‘herbal teas’ aren’t actually tea, scientifically speaking. We’ll call these infusions, such as camomile and peppermint, which come from different plants.
